Abudhabi or Dubai

which city is better - AbuDhabi or Dubai?why?

There are many fantastic cities around the world. Some cities are famous for history. While other cities are famous for shopping and entertainment. In the UAE there are two important cities, AbuDhabi and Dubai. Both of these cities have some advantages and some disadvantages. In my view, AbuDhabi is a better city because it's smaller, and it has many opportunities.

AbuDhabi is better than Dubai because it is smaller. First, there is less traffic in small cities. For example, its only tack about 20 minutes to travel from downtown AbuDhabi to the other side. On the other hand, it can tack one and a half hour to travel across Dubai second, small cities like AbuDhabi are often more organized. For instance, in AbuDhabi the roads are planned, so it is easy to find shopping malls such as Marina Mall.
However, in Dubai you can easily get lost on the road because they are always changing due to construction work. In short AbuDhabi is better than Dubai because it is smaller.

There are more opportunities in AbuDhabi than Dubai. First, there are more entertainment opportunities in Abu Dhabi. For example, AbuDhabi has much nicer free beaches than Dubai. Unlike Dubai, the beach road near 30th street have many nice activities such as renting bicycles and numerous cafes like cold stone ice- cream and restaurant. Moreover AbuDhabi actually has more nice hotels with nice restaurants such us Sent Regis in Saadyat island and the Viceroy on Yas Island. Second, AbuDhabi, has more job opportunities because it wasn't affected by economic crises of 2008 the same way as Dubai. For instance, AbuDhabi helped Dubai by giving money. In sum Dubai has fewer opportunities than AbuDhabi.

To conclude, AbuDhabi is a better place to live than Dubai because it is not as big, and it has more entertainment and work opportunity. There are simply more jobs and nice places to go in Abudhabi. In my opinion, anyone living in Dubai should conceder moving to Abudhabi.

Essay about iPad and textbooks

These days technology has become very important in our life. And with the emergence of two biggest and famous companies such as Apple and Samsung, the people can not live without their products such as iPhones, iPads and iPods because it has many good education programs. In my view, iPad is better because it is easier to use than text books and worksheets and more evolved.

iPad is better than text books because it is easier. First, it is more lighter than books, so we don't need to carry many things such as books, pens and eraser. For example, in Zayed University we work on the iPad most of the time, we read stories and do some practices on it. Second, iPad is not complicated to use because all people from different ages, even kids, know how to use it easily. In short, iPad is better than textbooks because it is easier.

There are many companies and schools now using iPad because it is popular, evolved and has many features. First, we can do many things on the iPad. For example, playing entertainment games, reading books, newspapers, stories, and we can become in touch with the breaking news from the world. Second, iPad has more options than textbooks. For example, we can download some applications to learn different things, and we can surfing the Internet, check emails and social networks at the same time.

To conclude, iPad is better than textbooks because it is easier, lighter and it has many entertainment and educations applications. In my opinion, in the future it will be no computers, no laptops. All people will use iPad and iPhones only.

Cultural differences in counting (summary)

Many people assume that numbers and math are the same all over the world. But scientist have discovered that this is not true. People in different parts of the world use different methods to count on their fingers. In the United States, people begin counting with their first, or index, finger. In China, people count by using a variety of finger positions. Some languages have only a few words for numbers and others don't have any words for numbers. A group of scientists worked with aboriginal children in Australia. The scientists studied people who have a very small vocabulary for numbers. In tests, aboriginal children listened to taps from a stick and then put out markers to match the number of taps they heard. The children put out the correct number of markers. In a similar study the Piraha tribe don't have words that means some and more. Although all humans have the ability to understand quantities not all languages have numbers and not all people use counting.

Summary of paragraph ( throwaway society )

The term throwaway society is used as a way of saying that we are too materialistic. We don't repair things as much as we used to. Because we don't have to and don't want to. And being able to replace instead of repair shows that people are wealthy. Most people would rather have something with a newer design. There are three reason first, lower price. Second, increased wealth. Third, increased features. The benefit of increased features is another reason to buy something new. So throw something out. The throwaway society shows us how good things are.

Summary of paragraph "The great pacific garbage patch"

In the Pacific Ocean there's an area called the Northern Pacific Gyre. Here ocean currents come together and move in a large circle. The currents collect garbage. People call it the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Eighty percent of it comes from land. Garbage floats down rivers and streams and into the ocean. Plastic bags are carried out to sea with the wind. Then ocean currents carry all of this garbage to the great garbage patch. A sailor discovers the patches in 1997, when sailing near Hawaii. He suddenly found himself traveling through waters filled with garbage. He calculated that there were more than 3 million tons of plastic floating in the water. All of this garbage is hurting the environment. Plastic attract poisons and most of them is not biodegradable.

Summary of paragraph "summarize"

Chloe heard about something called "zero waste". It's a new idea with all garbage in the world. It sounds a little crazy, but that's the goal. Some cities like San Francisco already recycle 68 precent of their trash. Her friend read about a company that's recycling food wast. They put it all together and turn it into compost. Then they sell the compost to farmers. From UK Chris and her husband tried to live for one month without plastic. Before they started they counted all the plastic items they used in a month. The total was 603. They not entirely succeed but they bring the number of items down to 106, about 80 percent less than the month before. Recycling is a great thing, but its not really the answer to our problems. She thinks the solution is city should charge customers by the weight of their garbage. In other words, produce less garbage-pay less money! We can all do so much to reduce waste. It just takes a little time, though and planning.

Summary of paragraph ( the Hodja Nasreddin and his friends )

One day during a cold winter. Nasreddin Hodja and his friends sat discussing the weather. They were bragging about things they could do. They decided to challenge him. They suppose him could stay out all night long in the cold without anything to warm himself. And they made a bargain with him. If he can stay outside tonight he will be their guest at a dinner. But if he use any special item to warm himself he will have to make dinner for all his friends. Then the Hodja agreed. That evening the Hodja's friends watched through the windows as he strolled. It was freezing outside. Just as he was about to give up, he saw a candle in a window about a hundred meters away. So he was able to stay out all night in the cold. The next morning his friends were amazed to find him calm and smiling. He seemed fine. He told to his friends about the candle. They exclaimed to him and they said he must be our host at dinner. The Hodja protested that he was unable to convince them. Reluctantly he invited them to dinner at his house that evening. His friends arrived in good time and waiting for their meal. The Hodja was preparing a fine meal. It took more than tow hours and there was no food. Then he led them into the kitchen they amazed to see a large cooking pot. A single candle was burning one meter below the pot. And he said to them the dinner will never be cooked with a candle. So how could he stayed all night with a candle in about a hundred meters away to warm himself.

But his uncle Miguel and his family lived in a little village on the coast. His uncle had a cafe and a small farm there, and sometimes the writer's family visited him. There in that village the writer met poor, mad Rafael. He didn't know then he was. He didn't know why he was mad. He knew nothing of his strange and terrible story. The people in the village told him what they knew. At the end of the beach were high black rocks. Near them was an old wooden boat-house. It had no doors. The roof was broken at one end, and open to the sky. He and his brother saw a dirty young man with long hair and a beard. His eyes were open but empty. He put one hand to his neck. The writer saw something shining under the dark beard. Rafael pulled it out to show them. It was a small gold ring in the shape of a fish. After that, they went back to their uncle's house. They asked their uncle about that crazy man on the beach. Their uncle said to them 'he is only a poor, mad young man he isn't dangerous. He went mad about a year ago' then the writer's family went back to the town. After he left school, he went to university in the capital. He studied to be a doctor. He found work in a big, new city hospital there. But then one of his uncle's son got married and all his family went there for a few days. He went down to the beach in the village. He couldn't believe it. The old boat-house and the boat were still there. He saw Rafael. He was twelve years older. His hair and beard were beginning to go grey. He coughed a deep, dry cough. He had an idea in his head. He was a doctor now. He wanted to give him the best help that modern medicine. He told his uncle what he wanted to do. There are special hospitals now in the capital for people like Rafael. He will have a bed, good food, nurses all the time. Then his uncle told the writer Rafael's story. Rafael's father was a fisherman. Rafael was a fine boy, never ill, good-looking, healthy and strong. When he was about eight years old, his father was killed. He was there and saw his father die. A sharks attacked him and bit off one of Rafael's father legs. After that Rafael and his mother lived alone in their house. In a few years Rafael was older and started to work. He became a fisherman too. He always hated sharks, because of what happened to his father. He fell in love with Anita, the shopkeeper's daughter. Anita was a beautiful child and very good at reading and telling story. Her father, Rodrigo, the shopkeeper, loved her most. He had big plans for Anita. He wanted her to marry someone rich and important. He didn't want Anita to marry anyone from the village. Rafael loved her much, and Anita loved him too. One day Rafael told him ' I want a gold ring for a girl in my village' it must be in the shape of a fish, a long fish with its tail on its mouth. The goldsmith made the ring for him. After Rafael come back to the village, he gave the gold ring to Rodrigo as present for Anita. Of course Rodrigo didn't agree and he gave the ring back to Rafael. Then the soldier came to the village. He was a strange man. He told us about his life, He had a thousand stories. He was very handsome, he was a soldier, a sailor, a fisherman. He had a small boat with an engine. He came to my cafe and there he saw Anita, sitting by the corner. The children were all round her and she was telling them story. After that he came twice a week. He often brought little presents for people. The soldier was becoming very friends with Rodrigo. Then early one Monday morning, we heard a terrible noise from Rodrigo's house. He was shouting, his wife was screaming. It seems Anita wasn't in the house. And we never saw the soldier again. Most people in the village believe that she ran away with the soldier. Rafael was very surprised. He sailed round the rocks. Some of the fishermen found Rafael. He was wet and dirty. He was looking up at the sky and laughing. And he was completely mad. Then Anita's younger sister called Marta wanted to talk to the writer about Anita and Rafael. Marta said: Anita was beautiful and clever. But sorry to say she wasn't a very good child. Our parents gave her everything she wanted. She became proud and lazy. One night I saw Anita going quietly out of the room. She was wearing a dress and shoes. About half an hour later, she came quietly back into the room. I asked her where she went. She laughed and said 'I go to meet my prince' after a few days she came back from one of these meetings with a ring on her finger. She showed it to me. It was the gold ring in the shape of a fish. Then the writer went back to his hospital to do his work. One day, a fisherman brought a note to the hospital. It said: Rafael is very ill. Pleas come immediately. He took a small ambulance and went to the village. Rafael was very thin and yellow. He coughed weakly. Blood ran from his mouth. He took Rafael back to the hospital in the city. They washed him and cut his hair and beard. They put him in a clean bed and gave him medicines. His body temperature was very high. He could speak very little. He told me everything . He planed to kill the soldier by the sharks. and Anita was with the soldier that night and she dead too.He lived for six days in the hospital. Then on the sixth day his heart stopped and he was dead.
